Blog #4 Dream Destination

My dream destination for a vacation is Ireland.  Ireland is a beautiful country with many things to do and many places to visit due to its rich history.

In order to fly to Ireland, you're going to need quite a bit of money.  You can't put an exact price on a flight to Ireland from the U.S. because it depends on the airline you're using, how much time in advance you book your flight, the airport you fly out of, and whether you fly business class, first class, or coach.  With this information, you can guess that a flight to Ireland will cost anywhere from $250 to $5,000.

Similarly, staying in Ireland all depends on the hotel you stay in, what part of the country you're staying in, how long you're staying, and what kind of room you're staying in.  For example, the cost of staying a week at the Alberdeen Lodge in Dublin for one adult is $172 via Expedia.  This is excluding the cost of eating out every night, which all depends on what restaurant or pub you eat at, as they all have differing price ranges.

It was the seat of English rule in Ireland before the Irish Free State was established. It now is the site of the Presidential election every seven years, and is where many other governmental affairs take place, including official State visits and informal foreign affairs engagements.

The other place I'd be sure to go to is the Temple Bar, which is located off the south bank of the River Liffey in Central Dublin.  Known for its lively nightlife, it is the location of many Irish cultural institutions, including the Irish Photography Centre, the Temple Bar Music Centre, IBAT College Dublin, the Irish Stock Exchange, and the Central Bank of Ireland.  Temple Bar is home to many tourist-focused nightclubs, restaurants, and bars. Some of the local pubs I would like to eat at are The Porterhouse, the Oliver St. John Gogarty, the Foggy Dew, and Eamonn Doran's.  Eamonn Doran's is located in the heart Temple Bar and has a rich musical history in it, which is a big reason why I would want to go there.  The Cranberries started their careers by playing there, Radiohead played their first ever Irish gig at the pub in 1993, and Bono and The Edge of U2 were interviewed there by English radio and TV producer Chris Evans in 2000.

  1. Wow i never would of thought to go to Ireland for a vacation. I think this is a very great idea. Especially to someone who is very interested in their heritage. I would be most interested in seeing the night life in Ireland because it is much different from what we would do in America. I think the pictures you put on here are very pretty looking as well. Much different from what we are use to around here. I know people who visit Dublin once a summer and they have nothing but great things to say about the vacation.
